hr Haemet, a Jewish nonprofit organization, is planning to build a 150-unit affordable apartment complex in Mid-City, Los Angeles. The six-story building at 2600 South Robertson Boulevard will replace three commercial buildings and feature studio and one-bedroom apartments, ground-floor shops, and limited parking.
The developer, Rabbi David Akhamzadeh, plans to utilize the mayor's Executive Directive 1 and density bonus incentives to streamline approvals and build a larger structure than zoning rules allow. The project will include 150 units for low- to moderate-income households, with parking for only 11 cars.
Designed by Metropolitan Architecture, the building will have a simple white and black design with cut-outs on its upper floors and floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground level. The site is located near Apple's new campus under construction, Culver City Station, and Warner Bros. Discovery's offices.
Ohr Haemet was founded in 1994 by Akhamzadeh as a nonprofit religious corporation to promote Jewish education and observance. The organization is based at the Ohr Haemet Institute in Pico-Robertson.
