ilm and TV producer David Zander, a prominent buyer of luxury homes in LA, has rented a new-construction spec house in East Hampton's Georgica estate section for the summer. However, this rental won't be his home for long - it's just been sold to real estate broker Josh Flagg and his friend Justin Gruenberg for around $8.5 million.
As president and co-founder of MJZ, a global production company, Zander has made headlines recently with high-profile purchases, including Lasata, which he sold to fashion designer Tom Ford for $52 million in 2023. He also bought Rod Stewart's former LA mansion for $57 million earlier this year.
The six-bedroom home, designed by Brian Glasser and built by Phil Kaufman, features 4,400 square feet of living space, including 1,500 square feet of covered terraces and balconies. The property includes a pool, pool house, and one-car garage, as well as standout touches like a sink from Billy Joel's former home.
Flagg plans to renovate the home to give it a more traditional look and feel, according to friends. The outdoor areas are particularly stunning, with a pool and automated screen among its features. The property was listed by Martha Gundersen and Paul Brennan for $10.85 million before being reduced to $9.15 million.
Flagg's purchase of the Hamptons home comes after he rented in Sagaponack this month, where he plans to celebrate his birthday with a party featuring guests like Candy Spelling. His deal follows Flagg Family Capital's recent purchase of retail space at 170 Mercer St. in Soho.
