Mother of Lodha brothers appeals for end to family feud

Manju Lodha urges real estate tycoons to resolve differences and adhere to 2017 family agreement

M
anju Lodha, the mother of real estate developers Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha, has urged her sons to resolve their differences over the use of the 'Lodha' trademark and division of family assets. In a letter dated February 21, she asked them to stop all disputes immediately and respect each other's businesses. The brothers are in a legal dispute after Macrotech Developers, led by Abhishek Lodha, filed a ₹5,000-crore lawsuit against his younger brother's firm, the House of Abhinandan Lodha.

Manju Lodha reminded her sons that their family agreement signed in March 2017 clearly states that neither brother has any right to the other's business or assets. She urged them to end their dispute and focus on growing their respective businesses and taking care of their families. The billionaire brothers are currently in mediation, with a former Supreme Court justice facilitating discussions.

Abhishek Lodha responded to his mother's letter, stating that he respects her wishes and will abide by the 2017 agreement. He also expressed hope that his brother would implement the agreement and use a distinct identity for his business. Abhinandan Lodha's spokesperson, however, maintained a dignified silence, citing family matters should not be settled in public.

The dispute revolves around the use of the 'Lodha' trademark and division of family assets. The Bombay High Court had appointed a mediator to facilitate discussions between the brothers, aiming for a resolution within five weeks.
