NAR's McGahn and Rusbuldt joined Trump, Cabinet members, and congressional leaders to discuss tax legislation affecting housing and investment.

A
s the Senate prepares to vote on the "One Big Beautiful Bill" tax legislation, the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) made a high-profile push for reforms that will shape the future of American housing and investment. NAR's executive vice president and chief advocacy officer, Shannon McGahn, joined President Donald Trump, key Cabinet members, and congressional leaders at the White House to weigh in on the tax reform package.

The proposed legislation includes several provisions critical to real estate, such as expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), improving Opportunity Zones, preserving the Mortgage Interest Deduction and Section 1031 like-kind exchanges, and increasing the State and Local Tax Deduction (SALT) cap. McGahn emphasized that these measures are "pillars of American homeownership and investment" and stressed NAR's commitment to ensuring they are protected in any final legislation.

At the event, McGahn engaged with influential policymakers, including Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Cabinet members, to advocate for tax policy that promotes homeownership and responsible development. "NAR remains committed to supporting the real estate sector, protecting homeowners, and strengthening communities," McGahn said. In a recent podcast, McGahn discussed the importance of this event and the positive impact the legislation will have on real estate professionals and prospective homeowners.
