Netflix's 'Owning Manhattan' star expands firm to Newport, RI

Rhode Island is small, but offers massive opportunity," said Ryan Serhant, who runs offices in 12 other states.

P
rovidence – Serhant Real Estate, the luxury brokerage behind Netflix’s “Owning Manhattan,” is opening a Newport office. Founder Ryan Serhant, a Topsfield, Massachusetts native, told HousingWire that the launch will be the firm’s biggest single entry in the market. “Rhode Island offers a mix of luxury and lifestyle across many distinct markets,” he said. The Newport location, slated to open Oct. 6, will be headed by Deborah Hauser and five founding agents who generated roughly $550 million in sales last year. The team includes Dina Karousos (formerly of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty), Devin Sheehan (ex‑RE/MAX), and Caroline Richards, Tammy Bass, and Hillary Olinger (all former Hogan Associates/Christie’s International Real Estate). Serhant noted that agents along the East Coast already serve clients and vacationers in Rhode Island, and that the state’s small size belies a vast opportunity. “We’re not chasing volume alone, especially in headcount,” he added.
