    Marvin, a Birmingham native who spent three decades building a career in commercial real estate in Washington D.C., never thought he'd return to his Alabama roots.     Marvin keeps a monthly event calendar with him at all times, and he's always excited to see what's happening next. "You might pass by the movie room and a group of people are watching something, and you're welcome to join in," he says. "It's that kind of community."
