ew York Governor Kathy Hochul is relocating her office to a new uptown location. The New York State Executive Chamber has signed a seven-year lease for 53,000 square feet of space at SL Green Realty's 919 Third Avenue. The lease occupies the building's 40th and 45th floors and will be used for Governor Hochul's personal office, press office, and working space for her staff. Rent is approximately $274,000 per month for the first year.
The new location was chosen to meet the Executive Chamber's needs for safety, cost-efficiency, and location. The Governor's previous New York City office was located at Time Equities' 633 Third Avenue, but the lease expired and the Office of General Services toured 20 buildings before selecting 919 Third Avenue. State officials are also negotiating a 15-year lease to accommodate additional staff.
The deal was brokered by CBRE, which declined to comment along with SL Green Realty. The Office of General Services renewed its own office space at 123 William Street in April 2022.
