illionaire Dan Snyder's former Washington DC-area mansion has seen a significant price drop, but it's all in aid of a good cause. The French Chateau-style estate in Potomac, Maryland, was initially listed for $49 million before being reduced to $29.9 million.
The 25,000-square-foot palace was handed over to the American Cancer Society earlier this year by Snyder, the former Washington Commanders boss. However, the market had other plans, according to Mansion Global. Realtor Cara Pearlman is now working with colleague Han Peruzzi to sell the property and maximize financial support for the charity.
Snyder's connection to the cause runs deep - his wife Tanya was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and became the face of the NFL's "Crucial Catch" campaign during their ownership of the Commanders. After selling the team in 2023, Snyder has shifted his focus to philanthropy.
The American Cancer Society plans to use the proceeds from the sale for cancer research and patient support, impacting 20,000 communities nationwide. The funds will be a significant boost to the charity's efforts, with realtor Cara Pearlman stating that their priority is to maximize financial support for the cause.
