N
icole Robbins, the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corp., is leading the revitalization of Milwaukee’s Harambee, Bronzeville, Halyard Park and Brewers Hill—where her grandmother grew up. On Oct. 3, MLKEDC and KG Development Group unveiled the $16.7 million LaMarr Franklin Lofts, a 55‑unit that offers 7,950 sq ft of street‑level retail and office space. Named for board member LaMarr Franklin, the project follows the organization’s model above commercial space, as seen in King Drive Commons I‑III and Welford Sanders Lofts. Athena Communications’ Patrick McSweeney notes that under Robbins, MLKEDC’s approach strengthens ties and builds safer neighborhoods along North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
