Dallas-Fort Worth Zip Codes Among Hottest US Housing Markets Last Year: Opendoor Research

Pool / Staff Photographer)Two Dallas-Fort Worth zip codes ranked among the hottest US housing markets last year, according to Opendoor research.Zip code 75126, covering Forney and surrounding Kaufman County areas, ranked No. 6, while zip code 75071, encompassing parts of McKinney and Collin County, ranked No. 12.Forney has over 23,000 residents in approximately 15 square miles, with the entire 75126 zip code housing more than 77,000 people across about 80 square miles.McKinney boasts nearly 214,000 residents over 67 square miles, with the 75071 zip code home to over 64,000 residents in roughly 79 square miles.Texas dominated the top 10, with Houston and San Antonio areas taking the top spots. Katy's 77493 zip code was the nation's hottest.Opendoor analyzed data from local Multiple Listing Services to identify the top zip codes by homes going into contract within 90 days of listing in 2024."Buyers are drawn to fast-growing cities like Forney and McKinney, offering a balance of small-town charm, proximity to major metro areas, and economic opportunities," said Nick Boniakowski, Opendoor's Head of Agent Partnerships.Collin and Kaufman counties have experienced significant population growth in recent years. Collin County added over 36,000 residents between July 2022 and 2023, while Kaufman County was the nation's fastest-growing county with a 7.6% increase in its estimated population to 186,000 in July 2023.The median home price in Collin County was nearly $500,000 in December, compared to over $325,000 in Kaufman County, and $400,000 in D-FW as a whole.
