ong Lake, a Texas-based homebuilder, has acquired nearly 100 acres of land in Montgomery County from the Brautigam family for potential residential development. The property, located about 40 miles northwest of Houston, was purchased by Woodmere Development, Long Lake's development arm, through an affiliate of MLB Commercial Real Estate. The sale price was not disclosed.
The Brautigam family, known for their long history in the area, decided to sell the land due to a desire for "greener pastures." Woodmere Development has not revealed plans for the site, but the company is known for creating planned communities. This acquisition marks another significant purchase by the firm, following its 2022 purchase of a 494-acre tract in Katy.
The Houston area continues to experience rapid development, with over 232,000 residential building permits approved between January 2020 and August 2023. Homebuilders attribute this growth to the city's low regulatory environment, which allows for quick construction. As a result, home prices in Houston remain relatively affordable, with a median price of $335,000 at the end of September.
