Novogratz NYC Townhouse Sold for $20.8M to New Owners

Formerly known for its bubble gum pink exterior, this 6,800-square-foot home is located at 114 Waverly Place.

A
historic Greenwich Village townhouse has sold for $20.8 million, boasting a colorful past and design star appeal courtesy of Bob and Cortney Novogratz. The 6,800-square-foot home at 114 Waverly Place was renovated by the dynamic duo, who purchased it in 2019 for $8.5 million.

The property's former owner was Celeste Martin, a local legend and actress. The Novogratzes gut-renovated the space during the pandemic, moving in with their family before listing it for $29.9 million in 2023.

Built in 1826, the 22-foot-wide home features a great room with 22-foot-high ceilings and a charming outdoor space with trees from the Berkshires. The interior boasts stunning original details, including a marble mantel fireplace in the primary bedroom.

The Novogratzes replaced the property's former bubble gum pink exterior with a yellow gold tone after the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission denied their request to restore the original color. The home also features a high-speed elevator and an open chef's kitchen that anchors the interior.

The buyer, Michael Goodwin, is the founder of a privately held securities trading firm in New York. He purchased the property through an LLC tied to his company. The listing brokers were Christopher Riccio and Elana Zinoman of Douglas Elliman.
