ussian billionaire Valery Kogan and his wife Olga have found a buyer for their opulent gold-and-onyx condo at Manhattan's iconic Plaza Hotel. The 5,302-square-foot apartment, which boasts Central Park views, was last asking $23 million after being reduced from its original $50 million price tag following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The lavish condo, a combination of two units on the 10th floor, features four bedrooms, 4½ baths, and a castle-like turret. Its interior design is reminiscent of a mini-Versailles, with a color scheme of red, white, and gold, and intricate details such as 24-karat gold trim, Venetian plaster, and custom cabinetry.
The Kogans, who have been embroiled in a dispute over ownership of Moscow's Domodedovo airport with Russian prosecutors, are currently undergoing a massive global property sell-off. They recently sold their apartment at 15 Central Park West for $33.89 million and have also parted ways with properties in Israel and Connecticut.
The sale price and identity of the new owner of the Plaza Hotel condo remain unknown, but sources confirm that the deal is now in contract. The 21-story Plaza Hotel, built in 1907 in French Renaissance style, has been a New York City landmark for over a century.
