nthony Beyer and his wife, Vanessa, have sold their Palm Beach house for $24 million, a record price for a non-waterfront sale on the island's North End. The couple completed an extensive tropical modern renovation of the 200 Tradewind Drive property eight years ago, working with Smith Architectural Group and Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld. Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties had the listing, while Lawrence Moens brought the buyer.
The Beyers' decision to sell was prompted by their sons starting high school in Fort Lauderdale, leading them to relocate. Anthony Beyer said they found themselves not using the house and were ready for a new construction project. The couple purchased the property for $4 million in 2016 and spent two years renovating it.
The sale is notable as one of the priciest non-waterfront sales on the North End, rivaling the Hearst family's off-market sale of a mansion for $25 million in May. Anthony Beyer, an investor with Poinciana Capital Partners, said the renovation was designed to showcase their art collection and took into account the strict design guidelines set by the Palm Beach Architectural Commission.
Single-family home construction is notoriously difficult on the island due to these regulations, driving demand for newly completed homes. Todd Glaser, a luxury spec developer, has shifted his focus to renovations to avoid the challenges of new construction. The Beyers' experience with building their previous tropical modern home was also complicated by neighborly opposition, highlighting the complexities of designing and constructing a house in Palm Beach.
