hree federal offices in Peoria are listed on a Department of Government Efficiency website as potential candidates for closure or relocation. The offices, located at One Technology Plaza, 2918 W. Willow Knolls Drive, and the Becker Building, have been identified as part of a real estate lease termination list. According to the website, the three locations total $251,056 in annual lease costs.
The General Services Administration (GSA) manages federal leases nationwide and is exploring ways to reduce costs through innovative approaches such as public-private partnerships and interagency co-working agreements. GSA Spokeswoman Tanya Schusler stated that publishing non-core assets aligns with the President's direction to optimize federal office spaces and drive maximum value for taxpayers.
The list does not necessarily mean immediate sale, but rather an invitation for compelling offers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Since its initial publication on March 4, GSA has received significant interest and plans to republish the list after evaluating stakeholder input and determining how to make it more accessible.
