Phoenix Realtors scraps MLS Choice amid NAR pressure

Arizona Association faces charter loss over non-Realtor MLS access membership option.

T
he Phoenix Realtors association has discontinued its MLS Choice program, which allowed non-Realtor members to access the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) at a lower cost. This move brings the association back into compliance with National Association of Realtors (NAR) rules and ends NAR's charter revocation proceedings initiated in December.

Phoenix Realtors will continue to offer non-members access to Arizona Regional MLS, as it has since 1996. However, this access is not a membership and does not make the individual a Realtor. The association emphasizes that its decision was made to comply with NAR policies, not to restrict MLS access.

NAR had previously expressed concerns over the MLS Choice program, viewing it as a violation of policy despite Phoenix Realtors' efforts to clarify its non-Realtor status. The issue was seen as part of a broader challenge facing NAR, including debates over making membership optional.

Phoenix realtors abandon MLS Choice, citing National Association of Realtors pressure.
