Plainfield Housing Authority Partners with WinnDevelopment for Public Housing Renovation

he Housing Authority of Plainfield, New Jersey has partnered with WinnDevelopment to renovate two key public housing communities in the city. The project, funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, will modernize 353 apartments at Richmond Towers and Joanne Hollis Gardens.

    The renovation aims to provide modernized apartments, improved common spaces, and enhanced on-site services for residents. Under the RAD program, current residents can return to their renovated homes, paying no more than 30 percent of their adjusted income toward rent. WinnDevelopment was selected due to its financial strength, expertise in public housing, and experience transforming aging communities.

    "We are thrilled to partner with the Housing Authority of Plainfield on this transformative project," said Keith Kinard, Senior Vice President of Public Housing and Affordable Partnerships for WinnDevelopment. "We will create high-quality, sustainable communities where residents feel safe and supported."

    The renovation will be supported by Connected Communities, a nonprofit providing services such as health care and financial education to enhance residents' lives. Plainfield Housing Authority Executive Director Randall Wood emphasized that this project represents a pivotal moment in the city's affordable housing strategy.

    Construction on the two communities is set to begin soon, with plans for completion by [insert completion date].
