Prince Andrew's £30m estate in disarray amid royal succession changes.

Prince Andrew's Royal Lodge faces mounting pressure over disrepair concerns.

P
rince Andrew's Windsor estate, the Royal Lodge, is falling into disrepair due to King Charles's decision to cut his younger brother's finances. Cracks and black mold have appeared on the historic walls of the 30-room mansion, which has been in royal hands for nearly a century.

The Duke of York has lived at the estate since 2004, but repair costs are skyrocketing, making his future there uncertain. King Charles recently cut Andrew's annual personal allowance from around $1.3 million, which previously helped offset the financial burden of managing the $38 million property.

Andrew had already invested nearly $9 million in renovations under a 75-year lease with an annual rent of about $336,000. However, he now faces escalating costs and has been given a year-end deadline to demonstrate his ability to meet these expenses. Sources indicate that Andrew is behind on his obligations, including exterior work due in 2022 and interior work scheduled for this year.

Annual upkeep alone costs approximately $520,000, with major repairs estimated to be over $2.6 million. Insiders claim King Charles has set a firm deadline, giving Andrew until year's end to prove he can fund the necessary upkeep or risk losing his hold on the estate altogether.

The situation is critical, and insiders describe it as the closest Andrew has come to being evicted since stepping down as a working royal. King Charles has reportedly encouraged Andrew to relocate to Frogmore Cottage, but he has refused, digging in his heels and refusing to downsize from the Royal Lodge.
