P
ropel Insurance, part of the Alera Group, has named Melody Olson as its new National Practice Leader for Real Estate and Construction. With more than two decades of industry experience, Olson will focus on strategic risk solutions and client outcomes.

The appointment fits Propel’s strategy to deepen its vertical‑specific insurance practices. Earlier this year the company also appointed Jevyn Backman and John Sims to lead its Senior Care practice and Corrie Craig to head Personal Lines. By concentrating expertise on distinct sectors, Propel aims to anticipate risks, customize coverage, and deliver insights that drive better results.

“Specialized focus helps our clients stay ahead in a fast‑moving market,” said Managing Director Chris Hayes. “Melody’s deep knowledge of industry trends and exposures positions us to provide stronger support for these verticals.”

Max Hanley will take over as Regional Director for Washington and Alaska, succeeding Olson. Hanley, a seasoned construction‑industry professional, brings technical insight and a track record of building lasting relationships, ensuring continuity and strengthening Propel’s regional leadership.

“At the core of our strategy is a simple idea: by truly understanding our clients’ businesses, we can deliver solutions that create competitive advantage,” said Operating Partner Kurt Carlson.

Hayes added, “This change signals our commitment to becoming the nation’s preferred partner for real‑estate and construction insurance. With leaders like Max and Melody, Propel is set to redefine excellence in the industry.”
