osta Maya, Q.R. — Two real estate developments have submitted environmental impact statements for the construction of 24 boutique hotels in the region. Lotes Norte Costa Maya and Lotes Sur Costa Maya are being financed by Banco Actinver and Grupo Financiero Actinver.
According to the General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk (Dgira), Lotes Norte Costa Maya is an 11-boutique hotel project, with each hotel consisting of three levels. The hotels will be built near the Mahahual-Xcalak highway, and the permit requests include construction and operation of the buildings, road circulation, and walkways.
The Dgira report states that the project adheres to regulatory instruments for urban and ecological planning in the area, as well as the "Lahun Tiku Master Plan." The project is located within the secondary activities sector, specifically in the Goods Transformation Sector, where non-residential buildings are constructed. It also includes temporary lodging services, such as hotels and restaurants.
The project aims to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, with a focus on climate change, deforestation, and natural resource conservation. Eco-technologies for water conservation and solar panels will be implemented to achieve sustainability goals.
Lotes Sur Costa Maya is another 13-boutique hotel project, consisting of three and four-level buildings along the Mahahual-Xcalak highway. The project includes eco-technologies for water conservation, solar energy generation, and comprehensive waste management. It also contemplates a significant social impact by generating employment opportunities for local residents and implementing environmental programs such as sea turtle protection and coastal dune reforestation.
Both projects aim to minimize their environmental footprint while providing economic benefits to the region.
