Real estate expert praises Trump team's housing expertise

Larry Connor proposes three steps for the Trump administration to address housing market challenges.

L
arry Connor, founder of The Connor Group, believes the Trump administration holds the key to solving America's housing crisis. In an appearance on "FOX Business Live," he outlined a three-pronged approach to tackle the issue. Connor emphasized that common sense regulations are essential in addressing the affordable housing problem plaguing the country. He argued that excessive regulatory costs, such as permits and red tape, can account for up to 40% of total costs.

Connor suggested implementing "tight regulations" on developers to ensure they maintain high-quality builds. However, he also acknowledged that this approach must be balanced with economic feasibility. The developer cannot be expected to spend $70 million building affordable housing only to have it depreciate in value.

To make the economics work, Connor proposed creating low-interest rate loans at the federal level. This aligns with Trump's recent comments on interest rates, where he vowed to demand immediate drops and lower rates globally. Additionally, tax credits could be used as a final effort to combat the affordable housing problem. By combining these measures, Connor believes the free enterprise system can be unleashed to address the crisis.
