obert Reffkin has taken the top spot in the 2025 Swanepoel Power 200, an annual ranking of residential real estate's most influential leaders. The Compass CEO has been a vocal advocate for private listings and Clear Cooperation, but his company's growth and success have been more than just talk. In 2024, Compass acquired several major brokerages and increased its agent count while decreasing losses.
Reffkin's leadership has positioned him as a significant force in the industry, according to Jack Miller, president and CEO of T3 Sixty. "Robert's vision, resilience, and strategic leadership have made Compass an enormous impact on the industry," Miller said.
eXp World Holdings Founder and CEO Glenn Sanford took the No. 2 spot in the SP 200. For over a decade, Sanford has redefined what is possible with an online brokerage model, driving growth and profitability while fostering innovation and collaboration. eXp's cloud-based brokerage model and downline approach to revenue sharing have taken hold in the industry, attracting agents and inspiring competition.
The top 10 leaders include power duos from Anywhere and Keller Williams, as well as familiar industry faces like Ryan Schneider, Gary Keller, and Gino Blefari. NAR President Kevin Sears is one of 40 newcomers to the list, coming in at No. 17. The 2025 SP 200 includes 126 brokerage leaders, 31 MLS or Realtor association leaders, and 31 tech execs, with 57 women on the list.
The ranking highlights the evolving leadership necessary to navigate the shifting landscape of residential real estate. Leaders like Reffkin and Sanford, as well as newer brands and their leaders, affirm this broader trend of innovation and change.
