Realtor.com Names Beverly, Mass., U.S.'s Hottest ZIP Code

Vibrant community, historic roots, and steady growth fuel a sizzling real‑estate market.

B
everly, Massachusetts, has been named the hottest ZIP code in the United States by Realtor.com for 2025, a title it has earned before. The town’s appeal comes from a mix of historic roots, a vibrant community, and continuous development that fuels a hot real‑estate market.

In 1908, Beverly boomed as the home of United Shoe Machinery Corporation, which produced 80 % of the country’s shoe‑making machinery and employed about 6,000 workers. The factory’s legacy lives on: the former plant now houses the 77‑acre Cummings Center, a mixed‑use campus that hosts more than 600 businesses and continues to spur new residential construction through Cummings Properties.

“Virtually no vacancies,” says Sarah Barnett of Barnett Development. “We’ve focused on revitalizing Rantoul and Cabot Streets, delivering essential housing over the past six years.” The rapid turnover of listings and high demand—key metrics in Realtor.com’s ranking—reflect the area’s dynamic market.

Local voice Jimmy Dunn, a Beverly native and comedian, notes the town’s growth by pointing out the introduction of parking meters on downtown streets—a change he says signals real progress. “When you start paying to park on Rantoul, you know we’re evolving,” he says.

Despite the transformation, longtime favorites remain. Super Sub, serving steak‑and‑cheese sandwiches since 1970, still draws locals and newcomers alike. The town’s culinary scene, though missing some historic spots like Bowling Matt and Roller Palace (closed in 2018), offers fresh options for residents.

Realtor.com’s August list places Beverly at the top, with Salem at 43, Leominster at 3, Trumbull, CT at 7, and Cumberland, RI among the top ten. The ranking underscores Beverly’s status as a prime destination for buyers and investors alike.
