he new AI‑powered chat lets you talk to Redfin while you browse, turning a static search into a live dialogue that hones in on the homes you really want.

    Traditional online real‑estate tools were stuck with rigid filters and map limits. Now, simply describe what you’re after—“I need a modern kitchen, a fireplace, and at least three bedrooms”—and the AI will ask follow‑up questions, adjust your criteria, and surface listings that match your exact needs.

    One early user asked for a $300 k home near Baltimore County with a cottage feel, wood floors, and a fireplace. The AI explained that no current listings met all those filters, suggesting a wider radius or fewer bedrooms. The user replied, “let’s broaden the search” and “relax on the bedroom count,” and relevant homes appeared.

    Abhishek Singh, a homebuyer who tested the feature, said it felt like having a personal concierge who revealed neighborhoods he hadn’t considered and found homes beyond his usual map boundaries.

    Ariel Dos Santos, Redfin’s SVP of Product and Design, noted that conversational search lets buyers explore many more “haystacks” with detailed needle descriptions, moving beyond static filter queries to a richer, conversational understanding of preferences.

    The chat is embedded on Redfin.com, the mobile web, and will launch in the iOS app in December. Clicking the search bar invites you to describe your ideal home in any language; the AI refines the search as the conversation progresses.

    Dos Santos added that the experience mimics a real estate agent who’s seen every listing and knows clients’ desires from countless late‑night chats, but it’s available 24/7, scans all U.S. listings, and can instantly add an extra bedroom or other tweaks.

    Early tests show users view almost twice as many listings and are 47 % more likely to request tours or other services. The system, built on Sierra—an AI customer‑experience platform co‑founded by Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor—learns daily from real interactions to deliver sharper, more personalized results.
