eff Thompson, 68, founder and CEO of Richland’s Windermere Group One, died on Sept. 17. The firm, a 1996 Tri‑Cities franchise, earned the 2024 Journal of Business Best Places to Work Mid‑Columbia award as the top‑ranked company. In the award video, Thompson highlighted the company’s culture, saying, “Culture sets us apart from other real estate firms. We’re proud of our teamwork and the saying that who you hang out with matters; I’m lucky to work with great people.” Thompson, born in Saint Peter, Minnesota, lived in Kennewick for 35 years.
