A
major mixed-use development in Fort Worth is gaining momentum after the City Council approved a crucial zoning change. The River Central project, spanning over 400 acres at the border of Fort Worth and Grand Prairie, will feature a diverse range of residential, retail, and commercial spaces. The site will include luxury apartments, townhomes, condominiums, office space, hotel rooms, and open areas.
The development is designed to be a transit-oriented community, with proximity to the CentrePort rail station. According to David Hasenzahl, principal at Hasen Design Build & Development, River Central aims to create a vibrant center for residents and visitors alike. The project's architecture firm is Gensler.
Floodplain reclamation is expected to begin within 12-18 months, with the entire development taking around 10-15 years to complete. This massive project will be one of the largest on Fort Worth's outskirts, alongside Walsh Ranch, a 7,200-acre master-planned community that's also gaining traction.
