A real‑estate agent was hospitalized after an assault at a vacant home in Banning. Police received a 6:40 p.m. call on Thursday, Oct. 2, to the 1200 block of Butterfly Way for an assault with a deadly weapon. Officers found the agent inside the empty residence when a male suspect, already inside, attacked him. The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was treated on scene and then taken to a nearby trauma center for serious injuries.

Witnesses identified the suspect’s vehicle as a Hyundai Elantra fleeing the area. The car was located, but the driver escaped, sparking a pursuit that moved through Banning streets, onto the 10 and 60 Freeways, and into Moreno Valley. The chase ended near Frederick Street and Atlantic Circle when a Riverside County Sheriff’s unit executed a PIT maneuver. The 32‑year‑old suspect, Daniel Moreno of Corona, was arrested. He faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, mayhem, and felony evasion. Moreno has prior contacts with Banning authorities.

No officers were injured. Anyone with additional information should call Banning Police Department at (951) 922‑3170.
