race Hightower, actress and ex-wife of Robert De Niro, is moving forward with her life after their high-profile 2018 split. Following the separation, she has successfully sold their Central Park-facing co-op in the prestigious Brentmore building on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
The couple purchased the 5,800-square-foot apartment for $20.9 million in 2006 and listed it this spring for $20 million, a deliberate pricing strategy to attract more buyers. The property boasts a colorful history, having been previously owned by disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein before undergoing major renovations after a 2012 fire.
Hightower worked closely with architect Alexander Antonelli and interior designer Buzz Kelly to transform the space into an elegant yet functional home that reflects her bold aesthetic. The residence features a gallery leading to living and dining areas, an eat-in kitchen, library, and four bedrooms, including a primary suite with sweeping views of Central Park.
Hightower's design preferences leaned towards vibrant colors and authentic materials, a stark contrast to De Niro's more subdued tastes. She aimed to create her own space following their divorce, as she previously mentioned in an interview. Despite the pending sale, Hightower has kept quiet about her next steps, but it is known that she plans to stay near a park with plenty of trees, reminiscent of her childhood on a Mississippi farm where she enjoyed walking and meditating.
