Rockstar's former mansion sells to new owner

Surrey estate boasts an indoor pool, historic 450-year-old mill and a party barn.

R
oger Taylor, Queen's drummer and songwriter, has sold his Surrey estate, Milhanger, after it relisted for $11.98 million earlier this month. The property is already under contract.

Taylor lived at the estate from 1994 to 2003, during which time he produced music videos, a record-breaking live-streamed concert, and several solo albums. The red-brick mansion has undergone significant changes since Taylor's departure, including new windows, a layout redesign, and a rebuilt orangery off the kitchen.

The property spans over 70 wooded acres and features a seven-bedroom main house with multiple outbuildings. Taylor added a library and games room to the main house, expanding its footprint to nearly 20,000 square feet. The estate includes a heated indoor pool, gym, steam room, and Jacuzzi.

Recent upgrades include new windows and a layout redesign. The kitchen has been renovated, as have several other areas of the home. A 450-year-old water mill on the property now serves as a guesthouse with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The estate's outbuildings also feature a "party barn" that was used by Taylor as a rehearsal space and for a live-streamed concert in 1998, which broke a world record at the time. Other outdoor amenities include a tennis court and horse stable.

Taylor purchased Milhanger from the Rutter family in the late 1970s. The property's garden has been featured in Queen music videos, including "We Will Rock You" and "Spread Your Wings."
