iverwood Capital co-founder Christopher Varelas has sold his Atherton estate, located in the exclusive Menlo Circus Club neighborhood, for $23 million. This sale ranks among the top ten deals in the country's most expensive zip code this year. The 1.2-acre property at 202 Camino Al Lago was listed by Mary and Brent Gullixson of Compass in April for $24,888,000, a price that includes eight digits to attract Asian buyers who consider eight a lucky number.
The buyer is Dmytro Gerasymenko, founder of SEO search company Ahrefs, and his wife Natthaya. The couple, based in Singapore where Ahrefs is headquartered, recently opened a Thai-style crepe restaurant there. Their agent, Rachel Michael of City Real Estate, confirmed the sale but declined to comment on their identities.
The 8,000-square-foot home features five en-suite bedrooms and was built in 1907 before being substantially renovated by Varelas and his wife Jessica after they purchased it for $16.2 million in 2016. The property boasts luxurious amenities such as a bocce ball court, high-end custom finishes, and an expansive garden with mature olive trees.
The sale highlights the active luxury market in Atherton this fall, with multiple offers from buyers seeking turnkey properties. Mary Gullixson of Compass agreed that the Atherton market remains strong, driven by demand for high-end homes with unique features like those found at 202 Camino Al Lago.
