T
he Smurfs are coming to San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, where a new interactive exhibit will take over three floors of the former Madam Tussauds wax museum. The "Smurfs: The Adventure" attraction, set to open in May, will occupy 27,000 square feet and feature 10 immersive experiences based on the beloved characters.
The deal between Los Angeles-based See Global Entertainment and building owner Fong Real Estate is not entirely clear, but it's expected to bring a boost to local businesses. Rodney Fong, president of Fong Real Estate, sees the partnership as an opportunity to revitalize Fisherman's Wharf and attract more visitors.
The exhibit will include interactive elements such as a bioluminescent tunnel, mushroom-shaped drums, and Smurf-themed vehicles. General tickets will range from $26 to $39, with VIP options available for $120, including front-of-line privileges and exclusive access to the new "Smurfs Movie." A new film featuring Rihanna is set to be released next year.
The exhibit's opening coincides with a larger effort to revitalize Fisherman's Wharf, which has seen several recent developments. The area is expected to see increased foot traffic as a result of the Smurfs attraction and other future exhibits from See Global Entertainment.
