ale Sorensen Real Estate has opened its third island office this week in the former PNC bank building at the northeast corner of A1A and 17th Street. The 3,880‑sq‑ft space, shaded by four oak trees, is the firm’s largest island location and is intended as a community hub. Co‑owner Matilde Sorensen says the office is for neighbors who need a place to fax, receive deliveries, or work at a desk.

Because the other island offices are cramped, agents rushed to secure space here. Michelle Clark, Elizabeth Sorensen, the Rita Curry Team, and Cathy Curley’s group have all moved into custom‑designed suites—Curley’s even features pink wallpaper and a pink‑striped couch. The firm invested heavily in a contemporary interior: white and soft gray walls, new flooring, lighting, and bathrooms, plus whimsical touches such as a flamingo‑themed women’s restroom and a vault‑style safe door. A conference room, open seating, and a shaded patio with cushioned chairs and a table provide comfortable work and meeting areas.

The Sorensen family bought the building on October 2023 for $1.35 million. Its location at the edge of Riomar, one of the island’s most coveted markets, and its proximity to South Beach communities make it a strategic hub. Managing partner Dale Sorensen Jr. notes the intersection sees over 20,000 vehicles daily on 17th Street (before lane restrictions) and about 14,000 on A1A, split evenly north‑bound and south‑bound. The 20‑month renovation exceeded the initial $300,000‑$500,000 estimate, but the family wanted a special space for agents and the community.

Last week, Matilde and Elizabeth Sorensen hosted a soup‑bowl fundraiser for the Samaritan Center, a Catholic charity serving homeless families. The event drew about 100 attendees, raising roughly $2,000—matched by the company. The office has been the site of this charity event for 15 years, now moved to the new location.

The official grand opening is today, Thursday, Nov. 13, featuring an evening party with food, drinks, music, prizes, and valet parking. Photos by Joshua Kodis.
