South Street Partners Expands Reach in Golf Course Communities

As golf's popularity grows, so does demand for golf-themed real estate communities, where South Street Partners continues to thrive.

S
outh Street Partners has been at the forefront of investing in high-end residential golf properties, particularly in South Carolina. The company's prominent golf communities include Kiawah Island Club, Palmetto Bluff, and The Cliffs, while its other notable acquisitions include the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort in Georgia and the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Florida.

South Street has been actively developing new golf courses within its existing properties. At Palmetto Bluff, a 9-hole course called Crossroads was opened earlier this year, designed by Tad King and Rob Collins. A new 18-hole championship course from Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw is also in development to complement the existing May River Golf Course.

On Kiawah Island, a new course from Beau Welling will soon be added to the private Kiawah Island Club, which already features two Tom Fazio-designed courses. The company's President of Operations, Rob Duckett, emphasizes that golf is a key amenity for its properties and attracts high-end real estate buyers who are looking for quality golf experiences.

The National Golf Foundation notes that 42% of current golf course projects have a real estate component, with South Carolina being one of the top states in terms of golf facilities affiliated with real estate. Duckett attributes this trend to the growing demand for safe-haven communities like Kiawah and Palmetto Bluff, where people are looking for a more full-time lifestyle.

To cater to this demand, South Street is investing in new golf experiences at its properties. At Palmetto Bluff, a reversible 9-hole course called Crossroads offers flexibility and fun, while the upcoming Coore-Crenshaw course will feature stunning views of Savannah. The company's focus on providing a variety of amenities, including shooting, equestrian, and water sports, aims to create a unique experience for its members and future members.

Duckett emphasizes that golf is a key part of South Street's strategy, and the company is committed to creating high-quality golf experiences within its properties. With new courses and developments in the pipeline, South Street Partners is poised to become a major player in the golf real estate market.
