tarr, a global insurance and investment firm, is expanding its presence in Manhattan with a new lease at 1177 Sixth Ave. The company will occupy the entire seventh and eighth floors of the building, totaling 49,264 square feet. This addition comes on top of Starr's existing space at 399 Park Ave., where it will continue to be based.

    The asking rent for the new space was reportedly in the $80s per square foot. The building's unique blend of prestige and boutique touches, along with its bright and airy environment, has made it an attractive choice for firms prioritizing wellness and productivity. Recent tenants include H.W. Kaufman Group, which relocated its headquarters to the building, as well as Kramer Levin and Mill Point Capital.

    The addition of Starr will join a growing list of notable tenants at 1177 Sixth Ave., including Charles Tyrwhitt, a menswear shop that has been a longtime resident. A new outpost of Naya, a fast-casual Middle Eastern eatery, is also set to open on the building's sidewalk level.
