T
he deadline to pay Summit County real estate taxes for the first half of 2024 is Friday, February 28. Military personnel and reserve members on active duty can defer property taxes by submitting an application. Applications are available online or by calling 330-643-2641.
Property owners are encouraged to use the online or phone payment system, which accepts e-checks with a $1 service fee. Other payment options include:
* In-person: Payments can be dropped off at the Summit County Fiscal Office, located on the 3rd floor of the Ohio Building.
* By mail: Mailed payments must be postmarked by February 28 to avoid a 10% penalty for late payment.
* Online or by phone: Tax bills can be paid through a secure payment service provided by ACI Payments, Inc. A small service fee will be charged if paying via debit or credit card, or a $1 fee if paying via electronic check.
* Drop box: Tax payments can be submitted using the drop box located on the 4th Floor of the Ohio Building.
* At participating banks: Payments can be made at banks that participate in the Regional Tax Collection System.
The Tax Installment Program is available to help property owners who are unable to pay their bill in full by the due date. Homeowners who enroll in this program can avoid late payment penalties. To be eligible, all taxes and assessments must be current. The deadline to sign up for the Tax Installment Plan is February 28.
Property owners who disagree with the valuation of their property can file a complaint with the Board of Revision. Complaint forms are required to be signed, dated, and notarized. Submissions are accepted through March 31 and can be mailed to the Summit County Fiscal Office or the satellite office at the Summit County Board of Revision.
