Arkansans have until Tuesday, October 15 to pay their personal and real estate taxes for this year. Payments made after that date will incur penalties.

In Sebastian County, residents can pay taxes in person at one of three tax collector offices or online/by mail. The collector's office accepts cash, checks, and credit cards, but charges a 3.5% fee on card transactions. There are locations in Fort Smith (35 S. Sixth St., Room 105 and 6515 Phoenix Ave.) and Greenwood (301 E. Center St., Room 112). To pay by mail, send taxes to PO Box 1358, Fort Smith, AR 72902. Online payments can be made through the county website.

For Crawford County, the collector's office is located in the courthouse at 300 Main St., Van Buren, and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents can pay in person, by mail (300 Main St., Room 2, Van Buren, AR 72956), or online through the county website. The collector accepts cash, checks, and cards, but charges up to a 3.59% processing fee for card transactions. Online payments also incur an additional 3.99% cost.

To aid the collection process, taxpayers are asked to bring statements, parcel numbers, or lists of property owners' names. Phone numbers for the tax collector's offices in Sebastian County (479-783-4163) and Crawford County (479-474-1111) can be used for inquiries.

Deadline looms as taxpayers face overdue personal and real estate tax payments nationwide.
