elebrity real estate agent Taylor Middleton traded her small-town life in Nashville, Tennessee for the fast-paced world of New York City's luxury market. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Middleton moved to Manhattan and quickly found success, closing over $500 million in sales since launching her career in 2013. In an interview with FOX Business, she recalled her experience transitioning from a close-knit community to the big city, where people were driven, ambitious, and independent.
"It was empowering and exciting for me," Middleton said. "I felt like I could be myself and pursue my goals without being tied down by traditional expectations." She noted that succeeding in New York required surrounding herself with talented individuals who pushed her to excel. "It's like building a winning team in football – you either play up or play down to the competition."
Middleton, dubbed "the Southern belle dominating NYC's luxury real estate scene" by Netflix, initially didn't plan on a career in real estate but was drawn to its entrepreneurial spirit and unlimited potential. After struggling with Lyme disease, she saw real estate as an opportunity to make up for lost time and pursue her passions.
In the Netflix series "Selling the City," Middleton candidly shares her personal struggles, including marital woes and Adderall addiction. She credits her recovery journey with giving her the drive to succeed in New York's competitive market. "Don't miss the miracle – don't give up before it happens," she advises. "If you have confidence in yourself and keep going, the universe will guide you."
Middleton has closed numerous high-profile deals, including a $17 million Manhattan penthouse sale. However, she finds the most rewarding sales are those built on personal connections with clients. "It's not about the deal number or volume – it's about building relationships that last," she said.
The show follows Middleton and seven other Douglas Elliman agents as they navigate New York City's luxury real estate market. Team leader Eleonara Srugo, who has drawn comparisons to "Selling Sunset" patriarch Jason Oppenheim, executed the firm's biggest deal of 2023, selling a $75 million listing.
Middleton joined Douglas Elliman after being recruited by Srugo and initially didn't anticipate reality TV fame but jumped at the opportunity when it arose. She credits her experience on "Selling the City" with teaching her about herself and sharing her story professionally.
