Asher Watkins, managing partner of Watkins Ranch Group, was killed in the Limpopo Province with Coenraad Vermaak Safaris. The attack was described as "sudden and unprovoked" by Hans Vermaak, CEO of the safari company. Watkins was tracking the buffalo with a professional hunter and tracker when the incident occurred.
