Texas Realtors Unite Across Austin-San Antonio Megaregion

San Antonio, Austin realtors share MLS listings through new data-sharing agreement.

R
eal estate agents in San Antonio and Austin now have access to a wider range of listings, thanks to a data-sharing agreement between their respective Realtor boards. This partnership allows agents in both cities to tap into each other's multiple listing services, giving them a competitive edge when serving clients relocating between the Texas cities.

The deal is part of a larger effort by the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR) to expand its reach across the state. Last year, SABOR partnered with the Houston Association of Realtors, allowing agents access to listings from three of Texas' four major markets. This new agreement brings the total number of agents with access to 60% of Texas real estate listings.

According to Jennifer Shemwell, CEO of Phyllis Browning Company, the partnership will enable agents to expand their networks and serve new clients more effectively. "More eyes on our listings means increasing marketing for a home being sold," she said. The agreement comes as the San Antonio and Austin regions continue to grow, merging into a larger megaregion along the Interstate 35 corridor.

Properties in cities like New Braunfels and San Marcos are becoming increasingly desirable, attracting homebuyers who prefer to live between the two cities. "It's a 20- to 30-minute commute downtown," said Austin-based agent Leo Salazar, explaining why towns like Buda and Kyle are so popular. SABOR Chair Will Curtis sees the partnership as a vital step in supporting Texas' rapidly changing real estate landscape.
