ello fellow pilots! As a registered real estate agent in Ecuador, I've had a unique perspective on the drone industry. When I first started flying drones for aerial photography and video of properties, my main source of income came from these gigs. However, my early work was... rough. It wasn't until I started studying and practicing that I improved.
As it turns out, many real estate agents think drone photos should cost $20 or less. But why? One reason is that some pilots offer free samples to attract clients, creating a false sense of abundance. Another reason is desperation - when pilots are struggling financially, they may undervalue their services just to get by.
Additionally, some pilots charge based on the hour or number of pictures taken, without considering the value they bring to the client. Using a smartphone to take photos for luxury real estate is like trying to win a Formula 1 race with a golf cart - it's not about technical capabilities, but about creating an experience that sells.
As artists, we need to educate agents on our value and show them how much of a super asset we can be to their business. If our drone work helps sell a house even one day faster, the commission earned could be worth thousands more than $20. We need to learn how to speak to agents in a way that shows them our worth.
It's not about being difficult or arrogant; it's about understanding and valuing our skills. By doing so, we can earn fair compensation for our work and make a real impact on the industry. So, let's start speaking up and showing agents what we're capable of!
