hierry Despont's Southampton estate has sold for $17.9 million in an all-cash deal. The buyer is a hedge funder who lives in New York with his family.
The 36-acre Rosewood Farm Estate, built on the site of the original 1920s Southampton Riding and Hunt Club, features a six-bedroom main residence showcasing Despont's signature style. The property includes three converted barn structures, a cobblestoned courtyard with a fountain, and an infinity-edge pool surrounded by mature specimen trees from Africa.
Despont spent $8.55 million over two years to acquire the land, which offers stunning views of a 50-acre reserve. The estate also features a four-bedroom guesthouse, a former art studio turned four-car garage, and a pool house with a lounge, gym, and sauna.
The property was first listed for $23.5 million in 2022 and went into contract last May. Despont, known for his elegant flair and high-profile projects like the Statue of Liberty restoration, passed away at 75 in this home.
