Three real estate brokers arrested in Chennai for forging documents to acquire ₹4 crore land in Velachery.

C
entral Crime Branch (CCB) has detained three more suspects in a ₹4‑crore land‑grabbing case in Velachery, after earlier arrests of five men. The 4,230‑sq‑ft plot at Vijayanagar, Velachery, owned by 59‑year‑old Vijayasamundeeswari of Hyderabad, was transferred using forged Aadhaar, PAN and property documents. The complaint filed on June 2 prompted the CCB’s Land Grabbing Wing to register a case. On September 16, police arrested five suspects—Yasodha (59), Palani (43), Vanitha (40) from Mugappair West; Meganathan alias Kutty (49) of VGP Nagar, Nolambur; and Arunachalam (42) of Ram Nagar, Velachery—seizing the fake papers. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of broker Padmanabhan (43, Choolaimedu), broker Ayyappan (46, West Tambaram) and collection agent Sukumar (38, Velachery). All were presented before the Egmore CCB & CBCID Court and remanded to judicial custody. Published Nov 1 2025, 9:39 pm IST.
