ANTON, MA – Timberline Construction Corporation finished Malden Catholic’s 80,000‑square‑foot academic and athletic complex, a key addition that broadens the school’s programs and supports future students. Selected through a competitive bid, Timberline was chosen for its inventive, budget‑friendly designs that maximized the limited site while meeting the school’s financial and timing targets. What began as a turf field and indoor gym evolved into a three‑story building, adding space for a new 7th‑ and 8th‑grade division within the same footprint.

“Timberline proved to be a truly great partner throughout this process,” said Malden Catholic President John K. Thornburg. “Their creative design solutions helped us achieve our goals, and their clear communication ensured we always felt aligned and confident at every step. The team not only exceeded our budget expectations but also stayed on schedule so we could welcome students into the facility for the start of this school year.”

The project was delivered under Timberline’s in‑house design‑build model, reflecting a client‑first partnership. Despite a tight site and proximity to active classrooms, the firm completed construction in 69 weeks, coordinating logistics to keep students, faculty, and visitors safe.

“We are thrilled to have collaborated with Malden Catholic on such a meaningful project,” said Timberline President Steve Wassersug. “This new facility is more than a building – it’s a place that will foster innovation, learning and growth for years to come. Our entire team is proud to have played a role in bringing this vision to life, helping the school fulfill its mission and supporting the next generation of Lancers.”

The complex houses 17 classrooms, specialized labs for Biomedical Engineering, Financial Literacy, and Entrepreneurship, a 35,000‑square‑foot indoor turf field, and a 3,000‑square‑foot wellness center. It opened in August 2025, marking a major milestone in Malden Catholic’s campus expansion.

The project team included Scalora Consulting Group as Owner’s Project Manager and Timberline as Architect/Design and Construction Manager. Engineering partners were VHB, Johnson Structural Engineering, R.W. Sullivan, Tocco, Phoenix Mechanical, and Dan‑Cel Fire Protection.
