n a bold and unconventional move, President Donald Trump has redefined the US approach to Gaza, envisioning the war-torn enclave as a vast real estate opportunity. Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Trump likened Gaza to a "big demolition site" that would be "leveled out" and transformed into a thriving hub.
Trump's remarks echoed his earlier proposal to redevelop Gaza, which he first floated during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The US president described his vision for the area as a new "Riviera," sparking widespread criticism from regional leaders and Hamas officials.
Netanyahu has since endorsed Trump's plan, hailing it as a "revolutionary" and "creative" solution to the Gaza crisis. However, a senior Hamas official dismissed Trump's comments as "absurd," emphasizing that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory that cannot be bought or sold.
The US president's proposal breaks with decades of established foreign policy, sparking concerns among regional leaders. Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, downplayed the plan as an initial offer to bring other players in the region to the negotiating table.
