fter over a decade on and off the market, Donald Trump's former Greenwich, Connecticut estate has finally sold for $31.5 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The property, which was once priced at $54 million, boasts stunning views of the Long Island Sound and spans 20,000 square feet on 6 acres.
The Georgian-style mansion was owned by Trump and his ex-wife Ivana during the 1980s, and after their divorce in 1990, Ivana retained it until selling it to financier Robert Steinberg for $15 million in 1998. The Steinbergs renovated the property over two years, removing some of its more opulent finishes.
The sale is the largest real estate deal in Greenwich this year, with the median sale price for homes in the area reaching $2.3 million in August, a 13.9% increase from last year. Joseph Barbieri, who represented the buyer, revealed that the home sold to a prominent family but declined to disclose their identity.
The property's house manager, who has been working at the estate for over 25 years, spoke highly of the new owners and shared stories about Trump's early morning routine during his time in the mansion. Despite being delisted last summer, the estate continued to attract interest from prospective buyers due to its large, flat land.
The buyer plans to decide on the property's future in the coming months, with options including tearing down the existing mansion or building a new one. The estate features eight bedrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a tennis court, and panoramic views of the Long Island Sound.
