rant Cardone, a real estate and private equity investor, believes former President Donald Trump can bring his "genius" business acumen to the housing market. On "Varney & Co.", Cardone said Trump is a skilled salesman and marketer who knows how to get his message across. However, he also acknowledged that there's a massive problem in the US: people are struggling to buy or sell homes due to high prices, taxes, and mortgage rates.
Cardone was one of several influential speakers at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday night. He told FOX Business' Stuart Varney that Trump can alleviate housing pressures by bringing down interest rates. According to Cardone, this is crucial for the housing market, which has been stagnant due to low sales numbers and high prices.
Cardone cited National Association of Realtors data showing a significant decline in existing home sales since 1995. When asked if Trump could completely turn the housing market around, Cardone replied "absolutely", saying that he would put pressure on the Federal Reserve to lower rates. He argued that the US should have the lowest interest rates in the world, given its strong economy.
Cardone also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris' plan to build 3 million new homes and provide down payment credits for first-time homebuyers. He pointed out that there are already 2 million homes for sale in the country, but people can't afford them due to high mortgage rates. Cardone said that interest rates need to breach 4% before there's any movement in the housing market.
Chief investment officer David Bahnsen disagreed with Cardone's views on Trump's role in setting interest rates, saying it's un-American to politicize monetary policy.
