LI Europe has launched three new Product Councils, responding to member demand and the shifting priorities of the built environment sector. These councils will focus on Operational Real Estate, Placemaking, and global real estate markets through the European Global Exchange Council (GEC).
The introduction of these councils brings ULI Europe's total number of real estate sector or topic-specific councils to 14. Product Councils are a highly valued member benefit, offering industry leaders a unique platform to learn from peers operating in different geographical markets, exchange ideas and experiences, share best practices, and shape the future of pan-European real estate.
Eight industry leaders have been appointed as co-chairs of several European Product Councils, including the three newest councils. They are:
* Tassos Kotzanastassis, founder and managing director of 8G Group, will lead the Technology & Real Estate Council, focusing on how technology enhances quality of life, sustainability goals, and operational efficiency.
* Miguel Lainez, managing director at Cale Street Partners, will co-chair the Retail & Entertainment Council, exploring innovative ownership and operation aspects in this diverse sector.
* Andy Martin and Thibault Weston Smith, both ULI members since 2002 and 2015 respectively, will lead the European Global Exchange Council, facilitating knowledge exchange across borders on global real estate markets.
Additionally, Carl-Johan Collet and Valentina Shegoyan will co-chair the Operational Real Estate Council, focusing on active asset management best practices. Kristian Riis and Renée Schoonbeek will lead the Placemaking Council, advancing inclusive and resilient place creation.
All co-chairs will serve voluntarily for a two-year term. Anne Kavanagh, ULI Europe Chair, welcomes the new co-chairs, highlighting the importance of European Product Councils in furthering ULI's mission. Lisette van Doorn, CEO, ULI Europe, emphasizes the value of these councils as confidential spaces for senior members to learn and share knowledge.
The European Product Councils will next meet during this year's ULI Europe Conference in London from June 16-19, 2025.
