Upper East Side estate from Gilded Age era sells for $46 million

Former Goldman Sachs partner David Leuschen unloads Gilded Age mansion for significantly reduced price.

A
Gilded Age mansion on Manhattan's Upper East Side has sold for $46 million, significantly lower than its original asking price of $80 million in 2021. The property, owned by former Goldman Sachs partner David Leuschen, boasts 11 bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and luxury features like a rooftop terrace and wine cellar.

The sale price is also lower than the most recent asking price of $49.9 million. Leuschen purchased the home in 2012 for $42 million. The property spans six stories and 16,000 square feet, with an impressive list of amenities including nine woodburning fireplaces, carved woodwork, and high ceilings.

The buyer was a non-local family tied to the finance sector, represented by Adam Modlin of The Modlin Group. Corcoran's Andres Perea-Garzon, Carrie Chiang, and Lesley Schulhof held the listing for the property, which entered contract in February after four years on the market.
