'm Bella Popadiuk, your Neighborhood Reporter covering Waco, Bellmead, and Lacy Lakeview. The City of Waco is partnering with Cromwell Commercial Group to market and lease 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space in a parking garage adjacent to Foster Pavilion at 600 S University Parks Drive.
The goal is to cater to Baylor visitors and local residents by offering dining options near the university's athletic venues. Toby Barnett, who works for Baylor University, believes this development will enhance the area and provide benefits to both the university and the community.
The city has not disclosed which businesses it's targeting due to privacy agreements, but local agents are working to fill the space with a mix of fine dining establishments, brewhouses, and franchise concepts. Gregg Grime, leading the project, hopes to find tenants soon and have them open within 9-12 months after signing a lease.
This development is part of a larger vision for Waco's growth and expansion. Next month, an additional 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space will be added across from Clay Avenue as part of the Riverfront Development project.
