Washington D.C.'s Top Real Estate Trends for 2024

his past year was marked by significant real estate activity in the DC area, setting the stage for an even more dynamic market in 2025. The incoming Trump administration and its projected Cabinet of high-net-worth individuals will likely drive a surge in luxury transactions.

    Notable sales included Dan Snyder's listing of his sprawling Mount Vernon estate for $60 million, which could break the region's record if sold at that price. Chris Wallace put his Kalorama home on the market for $6.4 million after leaving CNN, but it remains unsold. A new $8.5 million home was listed on the site where the infamous "Mansion Murders" took place in 2015.

    Other high-profile transactions included Washington Post CEO Will Lewis purchasing a Georgetown home for $7 million and Cava co-founder Ted Xenohristos snagging an $8.6 million Northwest home. Lobbyist Tony Podesta sold his Kalorama home near the Obamas' residence for $8.2 million in January, while the late Senator Dianne Feinstein's Spring Valley home was listed for $8.5 million before being reduced to $7.5 million. Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also sold his Kalorama home for $6.2 million early this year.
